How We Fit

Let’s talk fit. Proper fit. A fit that feels like it was made for you. (Because it was.)

Where most brands stop, we start.

Our fit process begins at size 14, we do not scale up from a sample size 8 which is typical industry practise. We have experienced designers who work with fit models for real-time feedback about the fit and feel of each style.

The result: wardrobe staples that actually fit your figure, feel good to wear, and are thrown out less. This guide includes images of different body shapes and busts.

Our design philosophy

At DE GAIL, we’re raising the standard for fashion beyond size 14. Too often, extended sizing means compromising on quality, style, or fit. We’re here to change that. Designed exclusively for sizes 14 to 24, our pieces follow dedicated grading rules to ensure a refined fit, not a scaled-up guess.

Blending structured tailoring with laid-back sophistication, our collections feature premium fabrics, sharp silhouettes, and thoughtful details that move with you. No shortcuts. No compromises. Just timeless fashion, intentionally made to fit. Finally.

How we fit

We don’t design for straight-size, then scale up and cross our fingers. Every piece is fit-tested on sizes 14–24 from day one. We adjust patterns, refine proportions, and fit again, until each style feels comfortable for our fit models.

Who we fit on

We fit across multiple bodies within our size range. We recognise that every person’s body shape is different to the next, and that it would be impossible to guarantee every style will fit every body exactly the same. We’ve done the work to make sure each style makes sense.

De Gail Fit Tips

1.
Balance your look: Mix fitted pieces with looser ones for a flattering shape. Wide-leg pants pair well with a tucked-in top, and a fitted dress looks effortless with an oversized blazer.
2.
Choose the right neckline: V-necks, scoops, and wrap styles open up and lengthen the neckline. High necklines can be just as flattering when balanced with a layered jacket
3.
Define your waist: High-rise styles, wrap cuts, or belts create natural shape. Relaxed waistlines can also work when paired with cropped layers or an open shirt.
4.
Play with prints: Smaller or vertical prints create harmony and flow, while bold prints highlight your curves and draw attention where you want it. Keep balance by pairing prints with solid pieces.
5.
Prioritise fit: When the fit is right, everything feels effortless. The key is choosing styles that work with your body, not against it.
